Why asking for reviews works better than you think
Happy customers don't think to leave a review. They got what they wanted, they're done, they move on. Unhappy customers don't need prompting — they're already writing it. So the average small business ends up with a review profile that looks worse than the business actually is.
The fix is simple, and it's the same fix every time: ask. Ask the happy customer, right after the job is done, while they're still feeling good about it. Most of them will say yes. A few will even write something nice without you having to do anything else.
The hard part isn't the asking — it's remembering to ask, every time, at the right moment. That's where it falls apart for one-person shops. You finish a job, you're tired, you move to the next one. The ask never happens.
So we automate it. When a job closes, a review request goes out automatically. You don't remember to ask because you don't have to. The happy customers show up, and your profile starts to look like your business actually looks.
